Arguably the most family-friendly access to the Everglades environment, this pretty park combines history and nature with its recreation. A “walking dredge,” invented to build Tamiami Trail through swampland, is on display. A replicated Seminole War blockhouse fort holds natural science exhibits. Walking and biking trails, a campground, paddling tours, and a playground keep families occupied in the great outdoors, where Florida panthers, bob cats, manatees, and alligators live.
