San Blas is the oldest Pacific port in Mexico and dates to the 1770’s. Located on top of San Basilio Hill, the preserved site includes a spectacular view of the harbor and all of San Blas. Kids might enjoy climbing around on the old canons, which were once used to protect the community from pirate attacks. The word “contaduria” is Spanish for “accountant,” so one of the preserved buildings was the accounting office of the colony. The remains of the Our Lady of the Rosary church are breathtakingly peaceful.
New roads and sidewalks make this a very pleasant place for exploring with children in strollers.
