Corkscrew

Attraction

Although the vintage Corkscrew roller coaster is considered to be a part of Silverwood’s Coaster Alley, it sits away from the other coasters, as if to show that it’s one of a kind. And it really is. The Corkscrew was the world’s first inverted steel coaster. It first opened at Knott’s Berry Farm, in California, where it thrilled park goers with its unique double corkscrew loops from 1975 to 1989. It was then purchased by Silverwood and moved to Idaho. It might be a short ride, at just 40 seconds, and not quite as exciting as more modern coasters, but there’s something special about riding a piece of history. For young kids, it’s also a great starter coaster and a great way to get them used to the twists, turns, and loops of the other rides in Coaster Alley.
