Crane Point Museum & Nature Center

5550 Overseas Highway, Marathon, 33050, FL

Most people pass this place by or find it by accident; don’t be one of them. Make it a point to visit Crane Point Museum & Nature Preserve, where you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy self- or tour-guided explorations through mangroves in back-bay areas (part of the nature preserve), and amongst Florida wildlife, such as lizards and iguanas.

The nature preserve also houses a rescue center for sick or injured wild birds, and you’ll have a chance to see these beautiful creatures along the way. You’ll also be able to walk inside Adderley House, the second oldest home in the Florida Keys. It was built in the 1890’s by George Adderley, a Bahamian immigrant who lived there with his wife, Olivia.

The Crane Point Museum features remnants of pirate ships, a simulated coral reef cave and a 600-year-old handcrafted canoe. Additionally, there’s a Children’s Activity Center in which kids can climb aboard an interactive vessel, complete with pirate clothes and treasures!

Admission is free for children ages 4 and under. Adults are $12.50 each, and kids ages 5 to 13 are $8.50.
