Dante’s View

Dante’s View Rd., Off Route 190, Death Valley National Park, CA

The highest point in the park, Dante’s View is a great place to get a feel for the natural beauty of Death Valley. The views are fantastic (as is the cell phone reception), and the whole family will be in awe once they see the mountain ranges, salt flats, and the lowest point in the U.S. (Badwater). Sunsets and sunrises are also magical. Hikers can take on the steep terrain, but should be careful of slipping rocks. During cooler weather, families with older kids may even want to bike in from Furnace Creek. In winter, the cool weather can get a little too cool at this elevation, and blustering winds make a jacket a must. Free.
