Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead

Established in 1978, the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead gives visitors a firsthand experience of life on a turn-of-the-century farm. Kids can watch the blacksmith as he creates his wares, visit a one-room schoolhouse, try to catch a butterfly in the butterfly garden, or watch the cows get milked at the dairy barn. History and farm tours are available for an additional fee of $5 per person, and reservations are required. Additional activities such as pony rides, mining, and feeding goats also are available for additional fees. Outside food is prohibited, but there are onsite concessions. Plan to spend several hours at this attraction.

Hours
Open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April 1 to Oct. 1. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the farmstead is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Admission
$2 per person; children 2 and younger always free; after 2 p.m. Monday to Thursday — free; during the summer extended hours of 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays — free; each year, there usually are two weekends with free admission; check website for current dates. Certain activities incur additional fees.
