Discovery Island

West Buena Vista Drive, Orlando, 32830, FL

Inside the elaborately carved 14-story Tree of Life, the park’s centerpiece and one of the most intriguing “imagined” Disney attractions, guests can put on 3-D glasses and enjoy an eye-popping, bug-infested show. Hosted by Flik and Hopper, stars of “A Bug’s Life” by Disney-Pixar, It’s Tough to be a Bug! is similar to Mickey’s Philharmagic show at Magic Kingdom. You might want to skip this one if you have small kids who are squeamish. The show’s realistic special effects and loud noises have been known to scare even some adults! FASTPASS+ is available.

From the Tree of Life, you can take one of a number of Discovery Island Trails to see ring-tailed lemur, red kangaroos, Salmon-crested cockatoo and more alluring and colorful creatures. In 2014, Winged Encounters — The Kingdom Takes Flight debuted. Flocks of macaws star in the colorful, high-flying show. Across from Disney Outfitters, the Wilderness Explorer Friends meet up with fans and give autographs. If your crew is more into Winnie-the-Pooh, they can visit with Friends from Hundred Acre Wood, like Tigger, Pooh and Eeyore across from Flame Tree Barbecue. You can make a FASTPASS+ reservation to see Mickey and Minnie at the Adventurer’s Outpost.
