Downtown Market

435 Ionia Ave. SW, Grand Rapids, MI

This light and airy architectural gem hosts a foodie co-op of butchers, bakers, fishmongers and more. Try Penelope’s Creperie or Rák Thai for scrumptious Asian street food. This indoor facility is the first LEED-certified market in the nation and is open year-round with a 24-vendor market hall. In the warmer months, dozens of farmers and artisans line the outdoor farmer’s market shed, plying customers with farm-fresh blueberries, sweet-tart cherries, Great Lakes fish and more. Other highlights include a rooftop greenhouse and the nation’s first demonstration kitchen for kids, with countertops that can be lowered so that even wee ones can participate.

Visit the Outdoor Market Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m.
