Whether you come here to kayak, take a summer swim, or just walk around and enjoy the scenery, Echo Lake won’t be disappointing. The water here is much warmer than at any nearby beaches, and there are lifeguards to watch the roped-off swimming area (which, fair warning, can get crowded, particularly on weekends). Start the afternoon with a hike along the Beech Mountain trail, then relax in the water.
