The El Pilar Archeological Reserve crosses both Belize and Guatemala, spanning a total of 5,000 acres. As such, it is the largest of the Mayan ruin sites located in Belize with more than 25 plazas and hundreds of buildings. It is on the list of 100 Most Endangered Sites in the World, and visitors will not find as many uncovered structures as they world at Xunantunich and Cahal Pech, as the archeologists purposely only expose portions of buildings in order to preserve them.
