Ellis Island Immigration Museum

New York Harbor, Ellis Island, New York City, 10017 , NY

The heart of the 27.5-acre Ellis Island, the Immigration Museum is housed in the former Main Building of the immigration station, where millions of immigrants entered the United States for the first time. Restored to look as it did in the early 1920s, the museum tells the story of the 12 million immigrants who came to America through Ellis Island, in search of a better life. A 45-minute audio tour is available, as well as a children’s tour. Visit the American Family Immigration History Center to research your own family history.
