Enger Tower Park & Skyline Drive

16th Avenue West & Skyline Drive, Duluth, MN

If you have kids who love king-of-the-mountain vistas — or just kids needing to burn energy — have them climb the five-story 1939 stone tower at Enger Park. This local landmark, dedicated by Norway’s Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Martha, provides sweeping views of Duluth, as do the picnic sites and overlooks from this hill 531 feet above the city. Kids can also explore Japanese rock gardens and try ringing a giant peace bell from Duluth’s sister city of Ohara, Japan.

Enger Tower Park sits along the Skyline Drive Scenic Byway, a 25-mile drive with dramatic views of Lake Superior as it winds through woods and ravines and across rivers on a 600-foot ridge above Duluth. It can be tricky to follow, so have a good map handy and watch closely for designated byway.

Admission is free.
