Experience PEI – Happy Clammers

Experience PEI – Happy Clammers

969 Point Prim Rd., South Pinette, Belfast

Located about a half-hour outside of Charlottetown, the Gillis family invites you to their home to dig for clams and enjoy a delicious clam meal and an authentic Prince Edward Island family experience. Their property is situated on the Pinette River in eastern PEI and offers excellent clam digging opportunities.

At low tide, you’ll head out to the beach with your provided shovel and dig for your dinner. You’ll learn the proper way to dig and measure your clams before heading back to the house with full buckets to enjoy a steamed clam dinner. Beverages, clams, bread and dessert are provided, but guests are welcome to bring alcoholic beverages.

Remember to bring bug spray and a poncho if rain is expected, as clam digging still takes place in the rain. Also, consider your footwear and outfits. It’s recommended that you not wear white as the wet, red sands could stain clothes. Sinking into the wet red sand is easy to do, too, so flip flops, rain boots or sneakers that are OK to get wet and dirty are recommended to wear as well. There is a hose back at the house to wash off dirty hands and feet.

Monday through Saturday, June 20 through Oct. 15. Start time varies based on tides. Experience takes two hours.

$100 per person for two to three people, $85 per person for four or more people. Children ages 6 to 8 are $25 and free for children under 5 years old.
