Fall Festivals in Nantucket

Nantucket, MA

Summer on Nantucket is always a dream vacation, but sometimes the price and sold out hotels can keep families away. Fall, however, is a great time to visit the island off of Cape Cod, as the crowds disappear and the hotel prices drop. Nantucket has many fun-filled weekends left well into the holidays!

Nantucket Restaurant Week
Moms and dads will love visiting the island in late September through early October, when Nantucket’s best restaurants put on the ritz for Restaurant Week. The week-long event includes the annual Junior Chef competition, where high schools compete, live, to create the best three-course meal at Cisco Brewery.

Annual Cranberry Festival
Cape Cod and the islands are known for their cranberry bogs — a sea of red in autumn. The island celebrate the cranberry with live music, children’s activities, hay rides and cranberry confections. (Visit Nantucket the first weekend of October to enjoy Restaurant Week and the festival at the same time!)

Annual Turkey Plunge
Spend Thanksgiving on the island and be a part of the annual Turkey Plunge on Children’s Beach, where the brave will jump into the November waters. Nearby, the White Elephant hotel’s Brant Point Grill will host a classic New England Thanksgiving dinner, as well.

Christmas Stroll
Experience an old-fashioned New England Christmas stroll the first weekend of December. Over the weekend, strolling carolers sing holiday tunes, Santa Claus arrives by boat, and the island’s stores and restaurants are all open to welcome the holidays.
