First opened in 1969, as a tribute to Southern California’s Spanish heritage, Fiesta Village proved to the Knott family that expansion beyond the original Ghost Town would be a success. The new area quickly became home to some of the first roller coasters at Knott’s, including Montezooma’s Revenge, which launches riders to speeds of 60 mph in just three seconds through a large loop, both forward and backward. Other coasters in Fiesta Village include Jaguar, a family-friendly ride through an Aztec and Mayan themed temple. The area is also home to the Merry Go Round, a 100-year-old carousel with hand-carved animals for kids of all ages to ride. Fiesta Village is also the place to come for great Mexican food, at restaurants like Pancho’s Tacos and La Victoria Cantina.
