Francis Quadrangle

8th & Elm Streets, Columbia, MO

The heart of the University of Missouri, the Francis Quadrangle is home to some of the university’s most historic buildings, including the Residence, home to the university presidents and chancellors since 1867; Switzler Hall, the oldest classroom building; and Jesse Hall, the administrative building. It’s also home to the university’s famous columns, a popular hangout and photo op. The columns are the only remnants of the university’s first building, Academic Hall, which burned in 1892.

The school offers tours to the general public, as well as a self-guided audio tour. A guided tour must be arranged beforehand, while the audio tour can be completed on your own.
