Gettysburg Museum and Visitors Center

1195 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, 17325, PA

Start your trip with a visit to the Gettysburg Museum and Visitors Center, where you’ll watch a short (25 minutes or so), powerful film about the Battle of Gettysburg; while informational videos are often boring, particularly for kids, this one is not. Afterward, you’ll ascend an escalator to see the Gettysburg Cyclorama, a 360-degree painting that makes viewers feel as if they’ve stepped back in time and on to the battlefields. Special lighting and sound effects add to the painting’s realism. Finally, you’ll have a chance to visit the Gettysburg Museum, full of unique artifacts, such as uniforms, campsites, artillery, musical instruments… you’ll even see a soldier’s toothbrush. Additionally, the building houses a gift shop (with overpriced novelties), café and family restrooms.

If you’d like to arrange a bus tour to the battlefields or Eisenhower National Historic Site, you can easily order tickets and pick up buses from Lot 2 at the Gettysburg Museum and Visitors Center, as well.

Admission for the film, Cyclorama and Museum Experience is $8.50 for ages 6 to 12 and $12.50 for adults. Children ages 5 and under get in free.
