Family Activities:

Way out on the east end of Long Island’s beautiful North Fork, you’ll find the pretty seaport town of Greenport. Rich in history and packed with shops, restaurants, and family-friendly activities, this thriving coastal village makes a perfect home base for exploring the area.

Start off by digging into the town’s fascinating backstory at the East End Seaport Museum. Step back in time at the Village Blacksmith Shop, examine the 750-gallon saltwater aquarium, or set sail on the Peconic Star for a tour of the nearby Bug Lighthouse.

Greenport’s harbor is a lovely area to while away a few hours. Kids will love riding the town’s antique carousel located in Mitchell Park, a sprawling oasis on the town’s waterfront that boasts fabulous harbor views. Docked at the marina is the Fire Fighter, a retired New York City fireboat that has been converted into a floating museum and enjoys the distinction of being the most decorated fireboat in the world.

To experience the harbor from the water, climb aboard the Glory, a beautiful reproduction of a late 19th century vessel that offers 45-minute tours around the Peconic Bay.
