Hancock Shaker Village (Living History)

1843 West Housatonic Street, Pittsfield, 01201, MA

If all you know of the Shakers is their furniture, then this historically reconstructed village is a fascinating exploration of one of the most unique religious subcultures in American history. Tours of the village include explorations of Shaker crafts and gardening, as well as an explanation for their famous habit of shaking themselves into religious trances during services. Costumed staff offer many opportunities for kids to engage in interactive activities, including taking their turns as pupils in a Shaker classroom. Kids under 12 are admitted free.
