This museum uses Harriet Beecher Stowe’s bestselling story “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” to inspire change and social justice. Tours are offered every half hour. Stowe lived in Hartford’s Nook Farm, where many of the area’s notable society once resided, including Mark Twain. The center now houses author talks, tours of Stowe’s home, and gardens, as well as themed and seasonal tours. Child Tours are available at 1:30 p.m. on weekends and Tuesday and Thursday during July and August. Requiring advanced registration, the tours use props, storytelling and activities to provide a kids-eye perspective.
