Budding marine biologists will absolutely love the Hatfield Marine Science Center, where various state and federal agencies conduct ocean research. The visitor center offers hands-on tours and exhibits to help kids, and adults, understand marine creatures and their environment. You can learn about tide pools, tsunamis, commercial fishing, coastal erosion, and more.
One exhibit that kids will love is the tsunami wave tank, where you can build a LEGO house, then hit it with small and large waves to test its strength! Plan your visit around feeding time in the very popular octopus tank, where you will get an up-close view of the 8-legged wonder. It’s a great place to combine education with fun.
Admission to the Hatfield Center is free, but a donation of $20 per family is suggested.
