A visit to the Korbel California Champagne winery, about 20 minutes outside of Santa Rosa, is a must when visiting Sonoma County. While this stop will likely be enjoyed more by the adults, children are welcome to visit. Winery Tours and Garden Tours are both offered at Korbel. Teenagers may appreciate learning about the history of the Korbel and Heck families as you tour the Champagne cellars and history museum and watch a movie on the brothers who created the product.
The 50-minute, complimentary tour ends with a tasting for those 21 and over. The impressive Korbel Gardens, which were planted in the 1880s, deserve their own tour. There are more than 150 varieties of roses in the gardens and the complimentary tour touches on the colorful collection. Families could spend an hour or two here.
Tour times vary.
Age or Height Restrictions
Children under the age of 21 are permitted at the winery as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
Onsite there is a wine shop, tasting room and upscale delicatessen, which serves sandwiches and salads overlooking Redwood trees from the outdoor decks.
Free parking is available.
