Thirty minutes west of Port Angeles, Lake Crescent is a spectacular place to swim, paddle a boat and fish. With camping and lodging here, it makes a great basecamp for the park. The 624-foot deep lake is famous for its clear, turquoise waters, and though chilly for swimming, it never stops kids during summer months. Seasonal boat, canoe and kayak rentals are available at Fairholm General Store, the Log Cabin Resort or the Lake Crescent Lodge, even if you’re not a guest. Nearby is kid-friendly hiking, including Marymere Falls, Moments in Time trail, and the Spruce Railroad trail (also great for bikes).

We drove all around the lake, stopped often and were amazed by how clear the water was. Lunch in the Lodge - really good, not nearly as expensive as we anticipated..
Kayaking trip


My family spent a couple of hours kayaking and will come back again for sure. We launched at the East Beach Picnic Area (which has a toilet, and I didn’t notice any signs or places…
