Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center

900 Larsen Park Rd., Sioux City, 51103, IA

The famed explorers Lewis & Clark are recognized in Sioux City, Iowa, with an Interpretive Center that highlights the duo’s discoveries in the area in 1804. Working with the Corps of Discovery, the exhibits hone in on the military operations, as well as the death of Sergeant Charles Floyd, who was the first U.S. soldier to die west of the Mississippi. The Betty Strong Encounter Center focuses on the encounters of the natives who lived in the area from the first encounters through today. The centers offer free admission and are open every day but Monday.
