Little Rock Central High School National Historic

2120 W. Dasy Gatson Bates Dr., Little Rock, 72202, AR

On a tour of this national historic site, walk in the footsteps of The Little Rock Nine, the legendary group of young African-American Civil Rights reformers who protested racial segregation in schools. In a bold move in 1957, the nine trailblazers, despite significant dissent, enrolled in and were escorted by a Federalized National Guard to attend classes at Little Rock’s then all-white Central High School. The Visitor Center is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Kids can complete an activity booklet and earn a “Junior Ranger” badge. Ranger-led tours of the still-operating Little Rock public high school are available by advance reservation (a minimum two-week notice is requested.) Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
