Louisiana State Museum Baton Rouge

Louisiana State Museum Baton Rouge

660 N 4th St, Baton Rouge, LA

Filled with informative and interactive exhibits and displays, the Capitol Park Museum showcases Louisiana’s history in two permanent exhibits: “Grounds for Greatness: Louisiana and the Nation” and “Experiencing Louisiana: Discovering the Soul of America.” Check out a 48-foot shrimp trawler, listen to the music made by many Louisiana natives, read how Louisiana’s distinctive culinary heritage evolved, and, of course, pretend to throw beads from a Mardi Gras float. There is so much to see, read and experience so plan to spend at least two to three hours here.

Open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed Sunday, Monday and state holidays

$6 for adults; $5 for students, seniors and active military; free for children 12 and younger
