Did you know Flagstaff is the World’s First International Dark Sky City? This means the city was the first to adopt lighting ordinances in an effort to preserve the night sky for viewing and research. You can take advantage of this at Lowell Observatory, where solar- and telescope-viewing opportunities are offered. Interactive exhibits and events are often hosted, as well. Lowell Observatory is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day except Sunday, when it closes at 5. Admission is free at this not-for-profit museum, but donations are recommended.
