The star attraction at the Maine State Aquarium is the giant lobsters, some of them weighing in at more than 20 pounds! Kids also love the interactive Shark and Skate Touch Tank and Tidepool Touch Tank, the latter of which features sea cucumbers, sea urchins, scallops and other creatures. Try a behind-the-scenes tour for a special experience.
The Maine State Aquarium generally opens around Labor Day and remains open through the month of September (September hours are limited). Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Admission is $7 for ages 13 to 65, $5 for 65 and up, $3 for 3 to 12, and free for children under age 2.
