Take the kids out on Crystal River and get up close and personal with some of the world’s most gentle giants — manatees. The Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge is a total of 46 acres of some of Florida’s most crystal clear, spring-fed waters. They remain a consistent 72 degrees year-round, which is critical to manatee survival.

You’ll get to see how manatees live in their natural habitat, as well as learn about their history, endangered status, dietary and mating habits, as well as everything else you’ve ever wondered about these beautiful creatures.

You’ll also spy several not-so-common bird species, such as egrets and ospreys, laughing gulls, anhigas, white ibis and even bald eagles!
