Attraction

Manitoba Children’s Museum

45 Forks Market Rd, Winnipeg

This interactive children’s museum, which was once a train repair factory, is located only steps away from the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and The Forks. Renovated in 2011, the Manitoba Children’s Museum features prototypes designed specifically for the museum, so it won’t be found anywhere else and kids of all ages (recommended most for children 9 and under) and abilities will have a blast.

There are more than 12 galleries for all ages, as well as travel exhibits that change throughout the year. The Engine House, a former train engine that looks as it would have had it pulled in for repairs at the factory, is fun for kids to explore, with a reading area and stage for performances, as well as the actual engine room for those ready to drive the train. The Tot Spot is great for those under 2 years old and offers a tinier version of everything available to the big kids. Kids can build a tower with a crane, create digital paintings and music, go shopping for art supplies and then create crafts or climb the many layers of the Lasagna Lookout structure. There are water tables to splash in, all at different levels for different heights, and splash aprons are provided (and adorable!).

Stroller rentals and changing tables are available.
