Attraction

Maritime Museum of the Atlantic

1675 Lower Water St., Halifax, Nova Scotia

The biggest highlight of a visit to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is its Titanic: The Unsinkable Ship exhibit that includes pieces of the ship — including one of the deck chairs! There’s also a mortuary bag on display. (Speaking of mortuary, the mortuary for many of the ship sinking’s victims is now an upscale restaurant called Five Fisherman Restaurant & Grill.)

Other exhibits at the maritime museum include Halifax Wrecked, dedicated to the infamous explosion that devastated the city in 1917, and Theodore Tugboat, based on the children’s TV series. Just outside the museum, families can visit a real-life version of Theodore Tugboat for pictures, tours, and harbor cruises.

Hours
The museum usually opens at 9:30 a.m. (1 p.m. on off-season Sundays), closing at 5 or 5:30 p.m.. Extended hours until 8 p.m. are offered on Tuesdays year-round.
