What kid doesn’t find fascination in treasure? This museum, part of Sebastian Inlet State Park, is packed with recovered booty from a treasure fleet of eleven Spanish ships that a hurricane sank in 1715 just offshore. Vignettes show how the 1,500 survivors lived and the lifestyles of the early Ais Indians they encountered. To this day, this strip of coastline owes its identity as the Treasure Coast to the coins and artifacts treasure hunters still find washed up on the beach. From the museum’s ship-shaped back observation deck, you can often see salvage boats at work. Hours are10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
