Michigan Science Center

5020 John R St, Detroit, MI

There’s no better destination for curious kids than a science center, and Michigan’s measures up, with plenty of things to learn and fun hands-on activities. In the engineering exhibit, kids can “work” the Steel Fun Factory and walk an 80-foot bridge; the health and wellness section teaches kids how to make smart nutritional choices; Kids Town is a miniature “town” designed for kids aged 2-5; the motion exhibit allows kids to experiment with magnets, simple machines, and light; and the space exhibit is all about the history of space travel, rocket technology, and more. There are also rotating special exhibits.

Planetarium shows are a must-do to learn about the stars, planets, and constellations of the Milky Way, and iMax films are an amazing way to feel like you’re part of the action in a documentary-style film about animals, nature, humanity, and the fascinating elements of the world we live in. There are also live shows throughout the day at the Chrysler Science Stage and the Sparks Theater.
