Mt. Lemmon Scenic Byway

10300 Ski Run Rd., Mt. Lemmon, AZ

Mt. Lemmon is the highest point in the Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson. The scenic byway is regarded by many to be one of the most scenic drives in Arizona. It’s an easy day trip from Tucson. You’ll ascend up the mountain, starting in the desert foothills at around 2,000-feet elevation, climbing approximately 7,000 feet in elevation in under 30 miles and experiencing beautiful changes in scenery and environments. While very winding in places, the road is entirely paved and there are many pull-out places for photos. At the top, there is the small town of Summerhaven and Mount Lemmon Ski Valley. Hours at the ski area vary depending on day and season. But the lift does operate year-round. You can enjoy skiing during the winter months and an escape from the desert heat during the summer months. After a day of beautiful views and outdoor adventures, the whole family will enjoy getting a treat at the Cookie Cabin in Summerhaven before heading back down the mountain.
