Myakka River State Park

13208 State Road 72, Sarasota, 34241, FL

Myakka River State Park in Sarasota, Florida, is home to lakes, marshes, trails and a plethora of wildlife. Native to Florida, birds and alligators are abundant in the state park and families can enjoy tram rides or riverboat adventures to view these creatures up close. Up to 1,000 alligators live in the Upper Myakka Lake at one time and the airboat ride takes visitors right through their habitat, making it easy to spot the reptiles. Be sure to take the Canopy Walkway for magnificent views of the park at 25 feet above the ground. Refreshments and restrooms are also available at the park.

The park is open from 8 a.m. to sundown daily, year-round. Admission into the park is $6 per vehicle. The tram and airboat tours are $6 for children ages 6 to 12 and $12 for adults and teens ages 13 and older. Canoe and kayak rentals are available for $20 for the first hour, and $5 for each additional hour. Bicycles are available for rent, too, at $15 each, for up to two hours. Onsite camping is also available for $26 per night, with water and electricity included.
