National Mall

Constitution Ave NW, Washington D.C., 20565, DC

No, the National Mall is not a shopping mall. Rather, it is the other kind of “mall,” a shaded promenade. Quite simply, it is Washington D.C.’s most popular park. On one end, the Lincoln Memorial. On the other, the Capitol Building. In the middle, the Washington Monument. Along its edges, Smithsonian museums — all with free entrance. Near the Reflecting Pool is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. A family could spend an entire day at the mall, visiting all of the memorials and attractions, as well as just enjoying a picnic on the grass. Whether you only have one day in D.C. or can spend a full week, the National Mall should be tops on your list of sites to see.
