National Museum of Natural History

National Museum of Natural History

10th Street and Constitution Ave, Washington, 20560, DC

As of 2014, this museum is home to a life-size T-Rex replica. And in 2019, the structure will become the centerpiece of a new Dinosaur Hall, following a $48-million renovation to Fossil Hall. Until then, other museum features include a Butterfly Pavilion, Insect Zoo, Naturalist Center, and — our favorite — a Forensic Lab, where visitors get to use real human bones to identify people. Admission to the museum is free.

The National Museum of Natural History is one of the Smithsonian museums — which area all free. It is also located near the National Mall, which is home to many memorials, monuments and museums.

Best in DC and one of the best museum's in the world. Love visiting every time we are in town with or without the kids.

Washington DC is full of great museums and this is one of the best. Free entrance and so much to see. Especially the gems section was amazing!
