The New Jersey State Museum, located in Trenton, New Jersey, about 45 minutes from Philadelphia, offers kids and families a chance to learn about art, history, science and more. Beside the many exhibits to discover, families can enjoy activities such as the scavenger hunt, which can be picked up at the information desk upon arrival, or the Museum Activity Cart, which is featured at the museum every Thursday. The Museum Activity Cart has a different theme every week and offers hands-on activities and demonstrations for families. The museum is also home the planetarium, which has shows that teach visitors about the solar system, planets and spacecraft that explore them.

The New Jersey State Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Close on Mondays and state holidays. Children ages 12 and under get in for free. Additional fees may apply, such as for planetarium shows.
