Caleb Nickerson House

1107 Orleans Rd., Chatham, 02650-0296 , MA

Caleb Nickerson House offers visitors a unique and interesting look into Chatham’s rich history. The Nickerson’s are an extremely important family to Chatham, as the town’s founder and first settler was William Nickerson (great, great, great, great grandfather of Caleb Nickerson).

Built in 1772 (four years before America gained its independence from the British!), this pristine house is an excellent example of New England architecture of the time period. Guests at the museum will witness people in period-correct garb cooking meals and doing chores, just as people would have during the time. The docents are very friendly, extremely knowledgable and hold a very high amount of pride for the house and its history.
