The North Carolina Arboretum is 434 acres of natural beauty, with 65 gardens and 10 miles of hiking and biking trails. Families can take guided trail walks together, try geocaching with handheld GPS units or can pull our their cell phones for a personal mobile tour of the grounds. The hiking and biking trails vary in length and are separated into easy, moderate and difficult categories, which make them great for all ages. Colorful flowers, plants and trees decorate the entire property and offer beautiful displays year-round. Special activities and events take place seasonally.

Admission is $12 per vehicle and there is no cost per person. The North Carolina Arboretum is open late November to early January, daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from April 1 to October 31, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Closed February and March.
