Northwest Trek Wildlife Park

11610 Trek Drive East, Eatonville, WA

This low-key wildlife park is well worth a stop before you enter Mt. Rainier National Park. At the wildlife park’s entrance, find the spacious nature-themed playground where younger kids will enjoy climbing and sliding. Then hop the hour-long tram ride, which circumnavigates 435 acres of meadow and forest to show you the park residents: Pacific Northwest Roosevelt elk, bison, moose, black-tailed deer, mountain goats, and Bighorn sheep. The friendly naturalist will help you spot the animals and teach about you about the local environment. Even older kids will appreciate the tour. After the tram ride, take a walking tour through the natural exhibits of predators, including Grizzly bears, wolves, and cougars.

For an extra splurge, go zip-lining through the forest canopy. The Zip Wild Challenge Courses offer something for all ages with the hardest courses featuring nets, monkey ropes, and bridges. Adventurous teens won’t be disappointed. We recommend not rushing your time at NW Trek. Try to visit when you’re not in a hurry to get into the national park.
