Ogunquit Beach

19 Beach St., Ogunquit, ME

Ogunquit Beach regularly tops the lists of best beaches, including the 10 Best Beaches for Families in 2015. And for good reason: the white, powder-soft sand seems like it should belong in the Caribbean, not in the rugged coast of Maine.

Of course, the righteous stretch of sand is hardly a secret — during summer months, visitors need to get to the parking lot by 10 a.m. at the latest if they even want to find a spot! Better yet, leave the car at home, and take the Ogunquit Trolley that drops beach goers off right in front of the sand.

One of the best features of the beach is the Ogunquit River, which runs along its backside and offers warmer, calmer water for small children to play in, as well as a bevy of crabs under the bridge for older kids to hunt with nets and pails.

Concessions and Restrooms
Whichever side you choose, the beach has ample facilities, including several snack shops selling greasy hamburgers, fried clams, and lobster rolls; a large shop selling beach toys and gear; and an ice-cream counter. Restrooms are also available.
