The Old Schoolhouse

8039 Beach Blvd., Buena Park, 90620, CA

One of many authentic Old West buildings in Ghost Town, this might be the one your kids remember most. The bright red schoolhouse was built in 1879 and served the boys and girls of a small town in Kansas for many decades before Walter Knott purchased it and brought it to California. The building is packed with genuine tools of the old days, from books to chalkboards. It will be fun for kids to take a break from their vacation to “return to school,” even if it’s just for a few minutes. They can sit in the desks, browse the shelves, and even practice cursive on slate boards. A historian is always on hand to teach the kids, in a fun way, about the challenges of schoolwork back in the old days. The Old Schoolhouse is a great place to get out of the sun and enjoy a little down time away from the crowds.
