Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Old Westbury Gardens are located on Long Island and offer families and visitors tours of the mansion that was once home to John S. Phipps and his family. It was originally completed in 1906 and is still surrounded by 200 acres of lush gardens, ponds and woodlands. Guided tours are offered, as well as children’s activities, family programs, events and more. Old Westbury Gardens are open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the Phipps house is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours are extended during the peak summer season. Children ages 6 and under receive free admission.
