Oswald West State Park is a hidden gem right off the highway about ten miles south of Cannon Beach. There’s a mile-long trail from the parking area that winds through old-growth spruce and cedar trees, across wooden bridges, and down to a rugged beach strewn with driftwood logs.

It’s an easy hike for the entire family. Take a lunch and enjoy the picnic tables and bathroom facilities at the beach. Kids will have fun watching the surfers who seem to always be there. Unlike some of the other state parks in the area, there is no fee here.
