Not only does this square medieval castle have one of the best names ever, it is also an extremely photogenic, if not rebuilt, relic of a long-ago time, when knights, kings and dragons (okay, not really) roamed Greece.
Originally built in the 7th century, this imposing, thick, fairytale-worthy castle was designed to be the citadel of the Early Byzantine fortress. Kids will love to explore and play pretend on the grounds of this impressive palace for a couple of hours while visiting Rhodes.
