Parksville and Qualicum Beach

Parksville, Vancouver Island

Known as Canada’s Riviera, the strip of beaches on the east side of the island are as calm and warm as Tofino’s ocean beaches are not. When the tide goes out, kids can spend all day digging in the sand and splashing in the water, and Canadian families flock here for summer vacations. The communities of Parksville and nearby Qualicum Beach are known together as “Oceanside,” and make a great east-side anchor for exploring this side of the island. Parksville overlooks Rathtrevor Beach, and Rathtrevor Provincial Park offers supreme family camping. The area is another great anchor location for day trips to nearby attractions, such as Cathedral Grove and Horne Lake Caves.
