Parliament Hill and Buildings

90 Wellington Street, Ottawa, K1A 0A6

The beautiful Parliament building can be enjoyed from both the outside and the inside. Guided tours are available of the Centre Block, which is home to the Senate, House of Commons and Library of Parliament, as well as East Block, which was home to Canada’s government during its inaugural years. Climb the Peace Tower, dedicated to the Canadian lives lost in war, which provides bird’s eye views of Ottawa. Visitors can also watch the Changing of the Guard ceremonies in the summer months, when ceremonial guards perform military drills. Live entertainment is featured here every July 1, Canada Day, celebrating the country’s birthday. All visits are free, but tour tickets are only available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are available at 90 Wellington in the summer, and at the Peace Tower visitor entrance September through May.
