It’s gimmicky, but no kid forgets a talking Paul Bunyan statue that greets him or her by name. He’s the first thing kids see as they enter this vintage amusement park that once sat at Brainerd’s busiest intersection. It’s now in a more charming countryside setting about six miles east of town. Its combination of tot-sized trains, Tilt-A-Whirl, Ferris wheel, bumper cars, merry-go-round and other rides join This Old Farm Pioneer Village with 20 historic buildings full of artifacts. The nostalgia factor makes it an ideal grandparent-grandchild outing.
