Every fall, visitors far and wide head to Lancaster’s Mount Hope Estate and Winery for its annual Ren Faire, one of the largest in the country. For more than 30 years, the Ren Faire opens its castle gates for weekends filled with jousts, music, dancing and more than 90 stage shows, as well as local arts and crafts and food and drink. The shire is decorated to look like a medieval village, spanning 35 acres. During October, the Faire welcomes Halloween costumes and kids can trick or treat. A children’s’ playground and fun for younger children is available, and schedules mark age-appropriateness for shows and events.
